The client

When Planet Paleo approached us, they were already seeing some results from email marketing, but the potential was far from fully tapped. Our goal was to overhaul their automations and establish a consistent, strategic approach to email campaigns that matched the quality and vision of their premium collagen and wholefood supplements.

At the start of our partnership, just 7.6% of total store revenue was generated through email. Fast forward twelve months, and email is now responsible for 35% of total revenue, with performance consistently holding at this level ever since.

Challenges

Planet Paleo had some foundational email automations in place, but they hadn’t been refreshed in years and were no longer aligned with the brand’s evolving customer journey. These included:

  • Welcome Flow

  • Abandoned Checkout

  • Browse Abandonment

  • Post-Purchase

  • Winback

Additionally, the brand was only sending 2–3 campaigns per month, with no segmentation or strategic planning.

We quickly recognised the untapped potential—Planet Paleo had a loyal and engaged customer base, but the email experience wasn’t supporting long-term growth.

Solution

Our strategy focused on two key pillars:

  1. Redesigning and optimising existing automations

  2. Introducing a consistent, value-driven campaign calendar

Automation Overhaul

We began by updating the content, design, and logic of the existing flows to match the clean, informative, and expert tone that Planet Paleo’s audience expects.

One major issue was the post-purchase flow. Previously, all customers—new and returning—were placed into the same sequence. We corrected this by applying better filters and segmentation, creating distinct journeys for:

  • First-time customers – with education and product guidance

  • Repeat customers – focusing on cross-sell and loyalty

  • VIP customers – offering exclusives and early access

Consistent Campaign Strategy

Alongside automation, we developed a structured email calendar, allowing Planet Paleo to stay top-of-mind with regular campaigns including:

  • Educational content around collagen, lifestyle, and gut health

  • Product launches and seasonal bundles

  • Targeted promotions for specific customer segments

The result? A deeper connection with their community, significantly higher engagement rates, and a major boost in revenue contribution from email.

Results

Within just 2 months of working together, we saw a sharp uplift in performance—email marketing was already contributing nearly 30% of total store revenue.

By month five, the email channel had surpassed the 30% mark, and we’ve continued to maintain and build upon these results through strategic optimisation and consistent execution.
